Your students love YouTube. YouTube is a popular free video sharing Web site which lets users upload, view, and share video clips. Each video is accompanied by the full HTML markup for linking to it and/or embedding it within another page outside of the YouTube site. According to YouTube, in December 2007, people of all ages around the world were watching more than 70 million videos on the site daily. The company was named TIME magazine's "Invention of the Year" for 2006. What can you do on YouTube? With YouTube, you can: - Upload, tag and share videos worldwide
- Browse millions of original videos uploaded by community members
- Find, join and create video groups to connect with people who have similar interests
- Customize the experience by subscribing to member videos, saving favorites, and creating playlists
- Integrate YouTube videos on websites using video embeds or APIs
- Make videos public or private—users can elect to broadcast their videos publicly or share them privately with friends and family upon upload
How do you use YouTube in Ecto? It's easy to embed YouTube videos in the learning pages that you create. This opens up a world of possibilities. Make any video clip from YouTube into part of a quiz or activity by coupling it with essay questions or auto-graded multichoice questions. Or have students make their own videos as class projects, upload them to YouTube, and share them in Ecto.
